Compare and contrast

Hi guys! I'm writing this post in English because it is part of an initiative by Brad Patterson inspired by Anne Hodgson - they are both English teachers and bloggers I've met/read on Twitter. The idea is posting one (or more) pair(s) of similar photographs so that you can spot the differences and write comments comparing the pictures in each pair. If you're brave enough, try recording a message on Audioboo and pasting a link instead of writing a comment.
Another teacher who's taken part in this challenge - Tara Benwell - has included useful language to express contrast and make comaparisons. It is really useful, so here's a link to her post in case you want to check it out.
I'm including two sets of photos; you can write about either one or both of them, as you like it :), and feel free to comment on any aspect of the pics that comes to your mind, including people, setting, time, details, gestures... whatever.

Set 1
Set 2

Go ahead and start comparing, but... mind your tongue, guys: that bloke showing up in all the pictures is still your teacher :)

  1. Love the pics. Look forward to seeing what your students come up with. If one of them records an audioboo in English, I'll do my best to try it in Spanish... pero ya hace un buen rato que no pratico mi español !

  3. THX for your comment, Brad. I told my 16 yo students to have a look and write some comments, but I seriously doubt they dare to use Audioboo... I'll encourage them to, anyway. Regarding your Spanish Audioboo, just do it: you'll brush up your Spanish and your readers will be amazed :)

  5. Hi Carlos and Paco-

I've recorded my voice in spanish. Will you do the same in English ? ;-) Sorry... it's been a long time since I've practiced and I always mix up my spanish and italian ! If I said anything silly, no big deal. It happens and making "mistakes" are a very important part of learning.

  6. Muchas, muchas gracias por tu Audioboo, Brad!!! You have an EXCELLENT command of Spanish, man! I'm sure this will encourage my students, who are sometimes much too scared when it comes to speak a foreign language, to record/write their own messages.
The problem is there are building works going on at school and there's no broadband currently, but I'll try to sort it all out to play your message in class next Monday.
BTW, you were half right when describing pic 1 set 2: actually, it was me... disguised as a Panda ;)
    Thanks again, mate.

  9. Ok, kids, another extraordinary guest visits our blog and leaves a recorded message for us. This time it is Luisa Palacios, an English teacher based in Úbeda, excellent professional and better person. Listen carefully to her recording and, of course, follow her advice and do not start smoking - it's a bad bad habit and, believe me, I know what I'm talking about.
Come on, people, enough for teachers, it's your turn now. Let us see what you're able to do.

However I must say I disagree with you: I'm in fornt of the bamboo forest - maybe it's the panda that's behind :) and it wasn't cold, it was rainy, that's why I'm wearing a raincoat. And you're right, I'm at a camp site in picture number two, yo can see the tents just in the background just behind me. And, yes... I'm smoking :(

  30. Buenas!
